This was a great estate find! The lock does work, we removed and it can easily be replaced back on. There are probably 20 pieces of gum left in it. The top turns ok, it does get stuck at times but has not been a problem. The penny receiver is finicky at times also but does work! I\'m unsure if this machine would benefit from being oiled, I have no experience with these items.
