Obverse:Muhammad Reza Pahlavi. Head left. Reverse: Crown above lion. NGC graded MS-64. This type, struck SH 1339-1353 during the reign of Muhammed Reza Shah (r. 1941-79), was minted to the standard of a British five pounds. Gold one, 2½ and ten pahlavis also exist. The coins generally trade as bullion coins. After the shah\'s overthrow, the central bank issued Pahlavi-sized coins featuring the ayatollah Khomeini (KM 1264). Recorded mintage: unknown.
