The \"clear tops\" are clear because the getter is mounted on the side - the dark brown spot on the side of the tube is actually the flashing that is normally chromed on the top of the tube. The side flashingappears darkbrown because it was applied at a higher temperature and is actually more efficient. See important note below on 7025 tubes.
All tubes tested on a Jackson 648Stester with an advanced emissions circuit. Tester minimum good = 70,with new tubes testing 100 – 115 range. Please note differenttesters are different and your tester may produce lower scores,especially if you are using a mutual conductance tester. I willalways disclose up front if tubes are at or near minimum goodreading.
The 7025 tube is the low noise/low humversion of the 12AX7. In addition to having stricter standards fornoise, it also has a spiral filament to help prevent 60-cycle hum. It is superior to the 12AX7A tube in that, although both had the sameAVERAGE noise ratings, the 7025 had in addition a MAXIMUM ALLOWABLEnoise rating which the 12AX7A did not have. If a tube is dual-labeled(7025/12AX7A), the higher 7025 rating prevails.
All tubes are USED unless otherwisenoted. This means they may have some wear and possibly some grime onthem, as well as slightly bent pins, due to their age. The term“tests NOS” means a used tube with all the accompanyingindicators, which TESTS as strong as an NOS tube would. Please note tubes are not tested fornoise, as noise/microphonics can be subjective, depending on how thetube is used in a circuit, and what type of vibration it is subjectto during use. ANY reference to a tube being low noise refersexclusively to the overall noise characteristics of that type of tube(7025 vs 12ax7a) OR that at some point in time, a tube was handselected (painted tip) at some point along with way. Overall, shortplate tubes tend to be less microphonic than long plate tubes.
