2 Antique African \'\'FOLK LURE\'\' Gourd Tribal Harp Guitar String Musical Instruments AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE
Purchased from an Estate Sale in Columbus Ohio where a lot of African Immigrants have move to and this was part of a Storage Unit Sale that had a lot of African Antiques , These caught my eye because I love Antique instruments
There were several African Peoples there who I asked the age and they all agreed these were over 100 years old,
I personally don\'t know a thing about the age and traditions, but they explained to me that the Shells had a meaning to them, and how the Leather was stretched and Fastened, They told me the name of the Gourd that was used but I have forgotten the name
As pictures show, some age related issues, but they both are in good condition
The one with the leather Loop on the end has a shell missing on that end and another shell missing on one of the 2 post you see by the Guard, And then the back side of the neck, or long wood piece that enters the Gourd has a split in the wood, but only on the outside, it does not go thru and is very solid, so just a split going down the back of the wood
The other one has the loop at the end missing from the leather wrap and the piece that holds the strings up in place needs set back in position, but I did not do that as I was afraid of breaking the Strings, it move and can be set, but I will let the buyer determine if they want to do that as I really am unsure of the correct way to do that,
With that said, these measure 21\'\'inches long and the Gourds are 6\'\'inches wide and one is 7\'\'inches wide
Very nice useable conditions with a little work, Very Sturdy and Tight, Not broken but Normal Age conditions as can be expected for this age
