Maple syrup can be produced with minimal equipment, but a few standard items increase efficiency of theoperation and quality of the product:1. A drill with a 5/16\" bit.2. A collection spout (spile) for each taphole.3. A collection container (bucket or plastic bag) or tubing line for each taphole.4. A large pan and heat source for boiling down the sap. Size will depend on amount of sap involved. (kitchen stove & large pot for small amounts)5. A candy thermometer is helpful.6. Wool, orlon or other type filters for filtering finished syrup while hot. (You could just let the syrup settle.)7. Storage containers for the finished syrup. (canning jars work very well)
The best maple syrup areas are the midwest and northeast from Sugar Maple trees but it can also be made from Red Maples.
