Antique Lenci series 109, model 54, child felt doll from around 1927- 1928. The doll is approx. 23 inches tall. She is in overall very good condition. I am a doll collector, but not a Lenci doll collector. I have for a long time admired Lenci dolls, and bought this girl from a doll show last year. However, she doesn\'t really fit in with the rest of my collection (primarily BJDs) so I am looking to rehome her to fund a recent purchase.
To the best of my knowledge she is all original without any enhancements, except that her socks and hat are not original, and I suspect her undergarment is a replacement as well. If you do a Google search for: Lenci 109 54 you will see pictures of what her original hat looked like (and an ended Theriault\'s sale where the doll sold for $3,500). I have uploaded as many photos as will allow to help show my doll\'s condition, and I am listing any flaws I can see. She has been displayed in a closed case in my non-smoking home during the time I have owned her.
She has a felt swivel head with pressed and painted facial features. She has brown side glancing eyes with brown eyeliner and pale gray eyeshadow underneath, brown brows, accented nostrils, and closed raspberry colored lips. She has blonde mohair, and her arms and legs are movable.
She has some overall light discoloration from age, but is not dirty, and she does not have any offensive odors. She has a very tiny nick in the felt on her nose. She has a few spots of felt missing on the top of her right hand/ fingers. There are several spots of damage to the felt on her lower right leg and foot, but luckily most of it is covered by her sock when she is on display. At the back top of her left arm there is a tear in the felt someone has stitched up with white thread.
She has a cream wool felt dress with scalloped felt trim and floral-tipped ties. It has a few areas of light staining. It fastens in the back with 3 metal hooks.
She has a red woolen felt coat whose grey collar, cuffs and pockets are edged with black diamond point design and white lambswool borders. Her coat has 2 extremely small holes that are barely noticable. It can fasten in the front with 1 metal hook. There is an area of damage to the fuzzy \"wool\" on her collar on the right side.
Her shoes are red felt- the right shoe has a small hole on the top.
I am starting the offerding for this doll at less than what I paid for her as I am not certain of her value, however I am not willing to let her go at any less than the starting offer. The stand is not included.
