Skylla | Stainless Steel Road
For Sale: Alchemy Skylla Stainless Steel frame set with an ENVE 2.0 road fork and Zipp 202 Wheelset. I chose Thomson seat post, stem and carbon handlebars.
The frame set was designed, ordered, and built last year and has seen approximately 500 miles of use, maybe less. The frame\'s geometry is an Alchemy Standard Size 56cm for easy customization and fit.
The color of the paint is an ENVE flat black base with matte red panels and lettering.
There frame is in excellent condition with only the smallest of marks from typical road rides which have been touched up and likely will go unnoticed.
This is truly a one of a kind paint job. The flat black frame with matte red lettering is commonly seen for carbon bikes but rarely seen on steel frames.
The bikes specs and geometry are as follows:
•FRAME - Full KVA MS3 stainless steel tubing with custom paint scheme, standard 1-1/8th non taper straight headtube, 27.2 diameter seat tube, all external cable routing for mechanical group sets, and a standard Shimano English threaded bottom bracket shell (NON press fit) for use with 68mm threaded bottom brackets. Will clear up to a 28c tire.
•FORK - ENVE Road 2.0 standard 1-1/8th non taper and 43mm rake with room to customize.
•HEADSET - Chris King stainless steel bearings in black color.
•SEAT POST - Thomson
Stainless steel is a respectable option for someone looking for something lighter and more durable than steel but unable to justify the added cost of titanium. Stainless steel offers superior impact resistance and lighter weight over chromoly and, much like titanium, stainless steel has extreme corrosion resistance and a very long fatigue life. In the case of KVA MS2, stainless steel actually has twice the tensile strength of titanium!
Alchemy partners exclusively with KVA to use its MS2 tubes. The benefits of MS2 over the competition are huge. The primary differences lie in its strength, ride quality and cost. It’s rare that something that costs less actually rides better and is more durable (versus titanium), but this is certainly the case with MS2.
The reason for selling is I simply just don\'t ride this frame enough to justify keeping it, and rather than letting it hang on my wall, Id rather sell it to someone else who can appreciate the craftsmanship.
Again, this frame is handmade stainless steel with a custom paint job with the frame price at $3600, add that to a world class lightweight Zipp 202 wheel set, Shimano Ultegra/Dura Ace and Thomson post, stem and bars and you have a super bike at huge discount.
