For sale is a pair of high quality vintage Allied 3070 three way speakers. These speakers have that vintage deep base sound with smooth mids and highs that are adjustable for the listener's discretion. These speakers are in very good condition for their age. I have included photos of the flaws on the edges of the cabinets. They each present better than the photos show. The walnut veneer is very well preserved. There is no delaminating of the veneer on either speaker. Even the grill cloths are in flawless condition. Each speaker weighs 18 pounds. The dimensions of each speaker are 22 inches high, 12 inches wide and 8 inches deep. As the photos show, each speaker has a Realistic 10 inch woofer, a Utah 6 inch mid-range and Utah 4 inch tweeter. The original woofers were mismatched when I purchased these speakers and since one already had the Realistic 10 inch woofer I bought a second one from E-bay and installed it in the other speaker. I soldered the wires, teak oiled the cabinets and replaced a missing screw on one of the crossovers. I also gathered the wires inside each of the speakers and tidied them up so that they would not rattle when the speakers are played. The crossover pots in each speaker work well The mid-range crossover is set at 1000 cycles per second and the tweeter crossover is set at 5000 cycles per second.The fact that there is an adjustable crossover at all is very rare to find in vintage Allied speakers and the excellent function makes these speakers worth a listen. The cabinets are vintage MDF and as can be seen in the photos are well constructed. I have sold a number of speakers and shipped them successfully. These will be blanket wrapped and boxed carefully so that they should arrive in the same condition that they were sent. I will also insure them for damage and UPS is the preferred carrier.
