Antique 1800\'s Wood Lap Campaign Desk w/ 4 Secret Compartments.
A superb desk that must have belonged to a gentleman named: Mr. W.E. Bradford Hobart... I found the name card (photo below) in one of the four hidden compartments. Solid wood, most likely mahogany or cherry. Original solid brass hardware.
Open the desk measures: 19\" wide x 21\" long x 5\" inches deep at it highest.
The photos show the location of the 4 secret compartments. Two are located below the top of the desk\'s open compartments and two are located behind the drawer that is in the side.
Condition: Desk shows many marks, scratches, some cracks in the side and floor of the desk. Some small nail holes and hinge marks. Putty in the lock area and key hole. Locking mechanism is present but not attached. No key. Hinges work well. The desk is functional, but should be restored if desired. Soiling, dusty etc. Sold as is since this is a restoration project. See all photos below.
