Antique 1923 Remington Model #1 Portable Typewriter - Serial # NA31238
(serial number found on a Google search. N = Model - #1, A = month built - December, the first # which is 3 = the year built - 1923. The last 4 numbers equal the sequence in which it was built.)
These were the first truly portable typewriters with four bank keyboards, and in this category they had no competition until Royal and Underwood introduced four-bank portables in 1926.
The \"folding-typebar\" mechanism raises the typebars to a 45-degree angle, the printing position, by means of a lever on the right side of the typewriter. The typebars must be lowered again when the typewriter is returned to its case.GOOD ORIGINAL CONDITION:
- It is in good mechanical and good cosmetic condition
- It has some minor repairs needed on the typewriter
- Some wear on the outside of the case
- Mechanically appears to be working except the ribbon
- The decals are intact
- Also the handle is on the case and original
- Latches all work
- All of the keys and the space bar on the key board are in great shape
