Antique birdcage Windsor side chairs set:5 bamboo turnings 1800\'s PA NY maple?:
$499.99

Setof 5 antique birdcage Windsor side chairs from Eastern Pennsylvania or possibly New York State circa mid-to late-1800’s. Purchased in 1942 asantiques at a country shop in rural Bucks County, PA. My parents bought them while on a honeymoontrip.

Thisis a style developed from the traditional bow-back style Windsor to include asquare back design that incorporated Asian influenced bamboo style turnings.

Severalcoats of paint removed [you can still see traces of mustard, blue, off-white,etc. paint] but otherwise original condition; the undersides are black paint.

Beneaththe seats you can see tiny holes all around the edges where a ruffle might havebeen tacked on at some point.

Probablymaple.

Eachone is unique with slight color and wood grain pattern variations.

Allhand-carved using mitered joints. Nonails used in construction of this chair. The spindles are very delicate and well-turned, yet sturdy. Solid wood seat with spindles and legspiercing through. and assembled without nails or other hardware.

The fifth chair matches but has a broken rung that needs to bere-positioned or replaced. Consider it free as part of the package.

You will want to see these before you commit to buy. You are welcome to come inspect!

Shipping costs are too expensive for anyone not living within about a day\'s drive from Knoxville, TN.

Measurements are accurate to within1/2\" and color photography is done in natural light; colors are describedfully with an artist\'s knowledge of subtleties.
