This item is listed locally as well, if you want to pick it up and have an offer in mind, I\'m all ears, fire away. Local pick up offers solely being considered, if you need it boxed and shipped, you will have to participate in the sale.
I am anticipating a move sometime in the near future and I want to clear the shelves, unload project clocks, music box\'s, whistlers, cars, etc, time to purge. Too many projects, not enough time, Hopefully, make my life a bit more manageable, let go of projects that I do not have time for or possesthe skills to complete them or simply lost interest in.
This clock has been shelved for at least a couple years, I normally hand write a condition report with all the clocks I shelve after inspection but, couldn\'t find it on this clock. So with that said, I\'ve done some brief testing on it so I can accurately describe it\'s condition to all of you to the best of my ability.
I wall tested it and is working as expected however, the impulse beat on the pendulum is rather weak, any askew movement or any deviation to the left or right on the wall, the pendulum would cease to swing so, this movement more than likely will need some TLC, it\'s tuckered out, at the very least, a good cleaning with some fresh lubrication may do it. It appears to be fairly clean, I may have cleaned and lubed it prior to shelving it but, I just do not recall, if it was shelved by me then, it more than likely needed further attention.
I do not see any overly excessive sloppy pivots but, someone has done some pivot/bushing work in the past, not my work for sure, I would have cleaned it up better than what I\'m looking at. Also, The bellow tops appear to be too small for the 6 in pipes, they work and sound off but, would probably be stronger with larger tops. Two issues with the case that I need to bring to your attention, some lifting veneer on the right side (facing the clock, near bellow opening) and on the very bottom where the chains exit, not extensively bad, just noticeable, minor.
Secondly, the dial has a pretty good warp to it, not enough to interfere with the hands but it will need to be or should be addressed. I\'m not sure how that can be repaired, moistened and weighted down perhaps or maybe take the back side to a flat sander to even it out? I don\'t know, I\'m no carpenter and definitely no wood carver or restorer.
On a good note, this clock is definitely worth spending the time on, a somewhat rare carving motif that is not often seen, I\'ve only run across one other in years so, not easy to locate, tough to find. It has a very unique carving motif and style to it, a cross between a carved clock and a chalet, the carving depicts a family of ducks slowing crossing the mill pond surrounded by rocky outcroppings in front of a waterwheel (dial) fed by a mill race with flowing water above the dial, also trees to both the left and right side of the case, all the carvings are very well done. I guess more of a milling house than a chalet.
If you look closely at the leading duck, mammaor poppa I\'m assuming, his head is just behind the rocky outcropping, \"disappearing\" in the fore ground, very cool. The roof also has been carved for an added plus of realism. I strongly believe the pendulum here is original to this clock, if you look at the bottom of the leader, the application matches and fits perfectly, pic provided. As far as dating this clock, I\'m leaning towards the 1930\'s or possibly early 40\'s, maybe the 20\'s but, unlikely.
As stated earlier, I will be listing more clocks, items, etc in the near future so, check back, if you don\'t like what you see here, there may be something you will like in the upcoming days. I\'m hoping to have enough time to list about twenty clocks, music box\'s, whistlers, wag on the wall\'s, BF embossed brass picture frame clocks and so on, so, keep an eye out. Well, that about does it, good luck and as always, Thank you very much for both your time and consideration, I really do appreciate it. Take care!!
Check out my other clock listings, any questions, feel free to ask, happy to accommodate, Thanks for looking and Take care.
