Very solid construction and beautifully carved accents- horse surrounded by leaf wreath on the door and the handle is carved leaves. The hinges and knob are brass the steel tin bucket inside has slight rust and hole in bottom corner, but still functional as a great coal or ash scuttle bucket next to your fireplace. The scoop is in great condition. I do not know how old this piece is and I do not know what type of wood it is.  The bottom has imprints or branding but can only make out that I starts with HE and ends with & ONEN.  12 inches wide  16&3/4 from front end to back. Shovel is 15 inches long.  3744S can barely be seen on inside of door stamped.
