E. Leitz Wetzlar D.F.10x50 binoculars, mfg. between 1907 and 1916. 

This is a beautiful example of the very rare \"messingglaser\" or \"brass glasses\" that were supplied to the military, usually as officers binoculars.  Being built for military use, they are individual focus.  This design was the first Porro II binoculars ever built, later copied by Zeiss and Hensoldt.  As such, brass was used for its resistance to corrosion and ease of manufacture. Leitz was to continue production of this model (with minor modifications) for the next 50 years.As in the pictures, the body is in very nice shape. There is some \"wear and tear\", but very minimal. The optics, for being 100 years old, are in incredible condition - 8.5 on a scale of 10. There is no dust, no fog, no mold and no scratches on the lenses. The focus adjustors seem a little stiff at first, but they were meant to be - so they would not get knocked out of focus by accident. They do focus clearly and correctly, and the collimation is perfect.The strap seems to be original, as is the benutzer (rain shield), but there is no case.

I have used these, and was impressed with the clarity, depth of field and with the view in minimal light.

 All in all, an excellent pair of binoculars, for a collector or for general use.
