ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN SILVER METAL SOUTACHE FAUX GLASS PEARL LACE TULLE APPLIQUE TRM:
$14.50

This sale is for an amazing antique circa 1910 handmade appliqué salvaged from a most exquisite, damaged gown of the Edwardian era. It consists of a delicate ivory silk tulle ground which is edged with silver metal-wrapped threads, cream soutache corded trim, silken embroidered threads, off-white matte aurora borealis sequins and an abundance of wonderful tiny glass beaded dangles with tri-faux glass pearls on the ends. They are not plastic, but glass and quite delicate. In fact, the appliqué is delicate only due to the silk net lace tulle....the silver metal-coiled strands and soutache trim give it body and shape it......In my opinion, I would say that it is in good condition considering its age as well as it holding up pretty well due to its silk tulle base. This will open up a lot wider, but I did not want to do this, due to the fragility of the tulle.....there are some tears/holes throughout the net ground, but it is still very useable for one\'s project. There are some areas on the outside edge which need re-stitching or repair, but all in all, it is in good condition. I can assure one that they will most likely not come across anything like this in the near future. It has so many creative uses. The way that it is shaped and is scalloped at the bottom edge, reminds me of a tiny flounce, but it has so many more possibilities. This does have weight to it due to the abundance of beadwork.....however, I still cannot come up with a number on my scale.....It would be great in one can find a piece of silk tulle to use as an underlay to reinforce this....I will look and see if I have anything.......This is absolutely wonderful and a must for the collector of rare and hard-to-find embellishments....The dangle pearl strands are about 1\" in length and the pearls are about < 1/8\" in diameter. The silver metal coiled strands are about a tad over 1/32\";cream soutache is less than 1/8\" and has lots of dimension, sequins are about 3/16\" and do have an aurora borealis effect depending on how the trim is held or how the light hits them.......See Photo 4 and 11 regarding some flaws aforementioned. This goes to a point at the top and fans out toward the bottom as can be seen in Photos 1-2 depicting full textile.......This is being sold \"AS IS\".
It measures approximately 11\" from top point to bottom edge of scallop at midpoint;it fans out to about 10.5\" across bottom edge
I do not want to continue handling this since I will damage it further, so these are approximate measurements.
