This is an early 1900s National floor model cash register in oak. It has been completely refinished and completely gone through mechanically and works very well.
This was bought from the original owner of a hardware store in Boone, Iowa several years ago. We are the second owners. I polished it way back then but it has darkened down very nicely.
The cash drawer label has a last patent date of 1908. The numbers on it are: 545850, and 99L-6F. The feet were DEALER TRIMMED (just a little) and then DEALER FITTED WITH BRASS SKIDS to lower the height of the machine at the original buyer\'s request. Too tall for many clerks.
Note: The author of \"The Incorruptible Cashier,\" Sam Robbins, now deceased, told me himself that this type of DEALERSHIP customizing was done upon request. It\'s 28\" wide, 21 1/2\" deep, and 65\" tall.
