Up for sale is a Wonderful Antique Herschede / Winterhalder & Hoffmeier 2 Tube/Tubular Grandfather/Hall Clock. Circa 1900-10. The clock\'s dimensions are approximately; H- 101\", W- 24\" & D- 15.5\".
The Case: The mahogany case is in excellent physical condition. There are no major breaks, chips major cracks that I can see. The original finish is extremely clean and looks fantastic for a clock that is almost 110-120 years old. This case has not been efinished and is exactly what a collector wants, nothing altered or changed that I can see. Also, on the back of the case, there is an engaving of the numeral \"10.\" This means the clock was sold by the Herschede Clock Company and the pattern was no. 10.
The Dial/Face: The silver andbrass plated dial is in good overall condition for clock this old. The lunar calendar is beautifully painted with much paint loss, please review pictures. The hour, minute and second hand are original and fit tightly to the arbors. There is wear to the silver plate on the lunar calendar and chapter ring.. I feel this is insignificant, but something you should know about.
The Mechanism: The Winterhalder and Hoffmeier (W&H on back plate) 8 day weight driven 1/2 hour \"bim-biamchiming mechanism has been running flawlessly for me for the last couple weeks. It has a strong ticking sound and keeps very accurate time.The sound of the 1/2 hour chime and hourly strike are wonderful. The sound resonates for a nice long time.
The Pendulum: The Winterhalder pendulum is complete and looks great. I did put a magnet to the bob and it did not stick, it fell off.
The Weights: The 2 brass weights are original and have a wonderful patina and look fantastic. I can not see any dents, breaks, chips, etc...
The Tubes: The 2 tubes are replacements, but they are old and from the time period. They are in excellent physical condition and have a great patina.. There are no breaks, chips, cracks in any of them.
The Glass: The clock has 1 pane of beveled glass that is original and in excellent physical condition.The glass that covers the dial/face is original to the clock and has a break in it, please see pictures.
The Keys: The clock will come with a Herschede clock winding key and replaced door key.
Antique collectors and/or clock enthusiasts will love this original condition clock that is in great working order.
