A handsome circa 1908 Villeroy & Boch Mettlach Ges Gesch beer stein with card players motif. The stein has a bulbous form with four rectangular white-glazed panels, each illustrated with a card player representing a specific card suite—club, spade, heart and diamond. The panels are overlaid on a gray-glazed background that is decorated in between the panels with heraldic and suite motifs, in charcoal gray, red, and ochre.
