This is a very unusual Fahrenheit /CelsiusMoeller Brass Thermometer with handle ring that measures 12\" long.Thermometersthat read up to these high temperature levels wereoftenused for making candies and jellies, deep frying and sometimes boiling maple syrup.I am notsurewhat this particular thermometer was used for but was most likely for a commercial type application.There is a crack in the brass case at the top as shown in the pictures.I don\'t believe that it works.It certainly makes a great decorative display item, which is what we used it for.It was made by the Moeller Instruments Company of Richmond Hill, NY.
