Antique Musterschutz Roman Warrior Cast Iron Wall Shield This piece is made of cast iron and is extremely heavy weighing 22lbs 12ozs. and measures a little over 22 inches acrossed and is approximately 3 inches deep. It is marked on the back Made In Germany and has two ovals with markings. One says 5563 Musterschutz and the other says 5564 with what also appears to be Musterschutz , but is harder to make out. Above the two ovals on the back itself is a larger number reading 2835. We believe from research that the 5563 and 5564 are German patent numbers and the 2835 may be date of mfg, but that is not certain. There are brackets on the back which appear to be for hanging but we are not sure if the two on top are original or not. The other five rectangular shaped one\'s are marked 5563 so are definitely original to the piece. This is an extremely ornate piece, please see all pictures for full description, there is way too much to describe. As seen in the pictures we have not attempted any cleaning on the item and there is rust. Although there is no significant blemishes the piece does show its age. Any restoration and or cleaning will be left up to the buyer. The piece is as is so please preview all pictures carefully before offerding.
