Harry V. Dougherty founded the Dougherty MercantilePolice around the turn of the 20th century. His brother George joined him in 1913. George Dougherty had a long and distinguishedcareer with the Pinkerton Detective Agency and a short stint with the New YorkCity Police Department prior to his stay at the Dougherty’s MercantilePolice.
