Antique Pottery Tool Self Centering & Dividing Banding Wheel - Rare - June 1916:
$495.00

This is an antique and primitive pottery tool \"Star\" Self Centering and Dividing Banding Wheel. For it\'s age it is in excellent condition as you can see in the pictures. It hasa patent in June 27 1916 and it was made by J. Kaefer MFG Company in Hamilton, Ohio. The patent number is 1,189,121. In the patent, there is a diagram that shows an additional (possibly an accessory) piece that is used to mark the pottery. It is in Fig. 6 and the part number is 50 & 51. I do not have this part. The second page of the patent describes it starting in line 65 as follows:

\"In the upper side of the armrest two threaded sockets are provided in which screws 49 may be engaged to hold a straight-edge 50 in place. This straight-edge consists of two parts hingedly connected, the outer receiving the screws 49 therethrough whereby it may be held with the joint just beyond the inner edge of the rest for vertical oscillation of the projected part, whereby it may be adjusted above or below the rest at any desired inclination. The hinge joint may be provided with any desired frictional device to prevent the swinging portion from having too free a movement. Stencils are also provided, having shanks or holders 51, constructed to slip on the outer end of the swinging piece of the straight edge to hold the stencil convenient to the hand of the operator.\"

Again, I do not have this part 50 & 51....actually nor the screw(s) 49. I think it was an accessory but I\'m not sure. Please take a look at the pictures for additional details and let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for viewing!
