FABULOUS, 18th to 19th Century, Gustavian curule bench or stool. The bench is wooden and is painted in a soft/pale gray with subtle white accents on the carved areas. Features primitive, handcarved rams heads on top of eachleg. Their circular horns are hand notched and their is nice, facialdetail as well as erect ears and carved fur around the neck area. The bench has curved, \"x\" style legs with carved, splithoof feet. There are floral accents onthe front and back sides at the center of the curved legs. A floral and notched detail is present on the front and back sides just below the seat area. Turned wood handles support the upper and lower leg sections. The seat is not original and is a plywood base which has been painted and custom cut to fit the bench. It has been subtly stenciled in gray and then whitewashed over the stencil. It is removable. It can be easily converted to a cushion with the addition of foam and fabric. Or, you can also add a pillow to match your décor. There are leather straps under the seat. This is a wonderful pieceauthentic Gustavian design. There is an identical bench currently listed on 1stdibs forover $6000.00 ([link removed by ]). The bench is in very nice, antique condition with minor evidence of age. The wooden legs sit a little (minor) unevenly,but the use of feltfloor protector pads has rectified that. The bench is sturdy BUT it is NOT for seating. It is a decorative piece only.

Measures 25\" tall at the ears. It is 33\" long and 14.75\" deep. The seat is 17\" tall,19\" long and 12.5\" deep.
