Protectograph
First produced in the 1870\'s to emboss checks, Protectograph\'s gained popularity with businesses in the early 1900\'s. Todd Company of Rochester was the early maker, but other companies then started producing similar machines. This machine is by the Todd Company and is one of their earliest models. It is Model H. It punches an line on the check from underneath that reads \"NOT OVER ____\". It prints 40 amounts (see dial) and I have included photos of two that read \"NOT OVER ONE DOLLAR $1$\" and \"NOT OVER ONE THOUSAND $1000$\". The paper depth is adjustable for different sizes of checks. The brass label on the front reads \"Protectograph Model H, O.W. Todd & Company, No. 191041 Rochester NY. The machine measures approximately 6\" wide, 7\" deep and 6 1/2\" tall. The label is very worn from time. Later versions of the machines had enameled lettering (white on a black field). The machine works great and is in excellent condition.
