Thisinteresting standing needle case iscarved of beautifully grained rosewood. It was made to hold sewingmachine needles and is divided inside and labeled for the differentsizes. The topis covered in brass and is stamped Wheeler & Wilson\'s SewingMachines.
Underthe toprim is written \"C.D. Wheeler Patented May 17, 1859 - Re-issued Oct. 16,1860\". It measures 2 1/2\" high and the bottom is 1 1/8\" in diameter.The condition is excellent with no chips or cracksand it has a wonderful, glossy patina. Inside are several old sewingmachine needles, most marked W. Hall & Co. This was WilliamHall & Co. needle manufacturers founded in 1825 in Studley(Warwickshire, England). It also contains a steel hook device.
