This cast iron and wood desk was made by American Seating Company. A.S. Co.\'s innovation was to attach one child\'s seat to the front of the desk occupied by the next child, thereby revolutionizing the use of space in classrooms all over America. It became the standard for a time. Today, these desks are not so much seen in school, but are often used by home-schooling parents to set a specific space aside for learning, and are equally as often found in gardens and on porches, where they serve ably as plant stands. Whether you want a desk for your growing child or your growing ferns, this one is in very good though weathered condition. The seat is cracked as you can see in the photo, but it doesn\'t seem to affect either stability or comfort. Measures 29\" long, 21\" wide, and 28\" tall, with a 15.75\" seat height.
