This is a stunning and rare 1871 Fiddle Base Singer Sewing Machine. It has unusual and beautiful inlays that appear to be mother of pearl. This is a treadle machine, and although we have the base we are not including it in the sale as the veneer is in poor condition.
The machine appears in working condition as everything moves freely, but we are not experts in this old a machine. Looks like it should work after a clean and light oiling.
Serial number on this is 786751. If you check ISMACS NET database you will see this confirms the date. Serial number is on the front right and on the \"flywheel\" underneath.
Multiple patents listed on chrome slide as shown, ranging from Sep 10 1846 through Oct 9 1855.
Japanning is in generally good condition with some chips on the wheel. Some gilding remains, especially on the guard. Note the rare and lovely inlays.
Please ask questions before offerding, and also view the pictures as they are part of the description.
Thanks for looking, and good luck!
