This listing is for a very old Flow Blue Transferware Platter. Most likely late 1800s. Made at one of the many potteries in Staffordshire, England. The back stamp says Watteau - Staffordshire England, and then the number. Jean-Antoine Watteau was the famous 17th century French artist that painted the scene that was transferred on to this platter. It still has nice vivid color. There is crazing, most noticeable on the white and more prominent on the underside. There is also an under the rim chip that looks as old as the platter itself, but this platter still displays well from the front. Measures 12” x 9”.
