ANTIQUE STEAMER TRUNK DOME TOP WOOD SLAT BARNARD BROTHERS CHEST TIN SIDED:
$349.58

This appears to be a Barnard Brothers chest.Worcester Ma. Late 1800\'s.Many examples of these appear on .This a beautifuldome top steamer trunk. Domed trunks were popular because railroad porters could not stack other trunks on top of them. Sided with textured tin plates in a golden yellow tint. It has a rare 5 wood slat dome top. 2 slats on every other sides. The leather pulls are in good shape, still usable. It appears to be a solid pine body trunk with oak slats. 2caster wheels on the bottom to pull slide this heavy trunk. It has a painted brass lock with no key. I\'m not sure if it is a working lock. The hinge works fine with 3 ornateback hinges cast iron on the back but one is broken. The top and latches close securely, but I would not snap the lock closed as there is no key. If anything the next owner should defeat the lock. No inner tray. It measures 36\"L x 22 1/2\"D x 27H\". This is a gorgeous large sized trunk. The inside has been lovingly reupholstered, very handsome finish. The hardware has been left original and has a great rustic look. there are places where the metal is rough, and rubbed thin from being rubbed up against walls or the floor, these are in the pictures, if you can even see them! This is from the later 1800\'s so it is rustic enough. So many great uses. Retail display case, in front of your bed, coffee table, fill an empty wall, holding your collectibles. on the Boat. RV travel, Hope Chest, College Dorm, Great for storage.
It is big and heavy and we will ship it accordingly, however it is also available for direct pick up here, just email us
