This ornate rocking chair is marked “Hunzinger NY Pat March 1868” . He patented his innovative designs and his company continued into the 1900s. The chair is about 36 in. high, 27 in. wide and 35 in. deep overall. The seat height is about 18 in. with a 19 in. width. The original seat was recovered with needlepoint some time ago while the back shows the original upholstery. The seat springs are held in place with a wood panel. These springs could be retied and the seat restored with new fabric or used as is. The wood frame shows a classic Victorian design with large Walnut turnings for strength. Overall condition is solid and sturdy. There is a tight repair on one rocker and the old finish shows wear in a few places with small marks and scuffs (see photos). This is a good opportunity to add a Hunzinger rocker to your collection. I guarantee it to be old and as described. It is being sold for local pickup only by you or the shipper of your choice.
