Servator Violin, Cremonensis Faciebat Anno 17.27 - Antonius Stradivarius inscription on the inside of this very old piece. First, the condition. It is missing pieces, it does have some minor cracks. No doubt that it is coming apart at the rim and I\'ve glued back the little black piece at the end, just so it didn\'t get lost, but it is a Gorilla glue which can be removed or NOT! The black part of the neck is off to one side, and I think this might be because it was stored up in the attic where heat may have done it\'s damage. It\'s missing the lower half of the cord holders. We aren\'t sure where it came from, because the man who owned it, played in barn dances a long time ago. There is a short piece of dowel rod with a string around it, that was inside. I extracted that and the black piece. If you have questions, please ask. I suspect it was a teachers student violin. If you understand Italian or German, then you know better than anyone.
It appears to be old as some of those listed. The chin plate if there was one is missing. Would make a lovely piece to hang on wall in shop or at home. Put in a shadow box, lined with a piece of sheet music, bow and perhaps a pair of Ben Franklin glasses. Thanks for looking and Happy offerding. Please only serious buyers.

It appears to be as old as some of those listed. There has never been a chin attachment on this violin, at least there is no indication of such nor marks where it would have been.
