Antique Apache Figural Olla Basket With 48 Horses or Dogs, NativeAmerican Indian, 11-1/2 inches Tall
This marvelous AntiqueFigural Apache Olla Basket has a geometric Diamond Pattern separating 48 horses or dogs anddates to circa 1900. The bottom designappears to be a flower with petals. The basket measuresapproximately 11-1/2inches tall, 11 inches indiameter at the widest, 6 inch diameter at the bottom, 5inch diameter at the base of the neck, and 5-1/2 inchdiameter across the top. Other than a few missing stitches, this Apache Olla basketis in very good antiquecondition. (See photos)
This artifact is fromthe collection that originated with Isador and Ann Freudenthal Solomon andtheir extended family from 1876 to about 1916. The Solomons founded Solomonville, Arizona, in 1876, where they establisheda Trading Post and a hotel. In 1890, Phoebus Freudenthal expanded the family mercantilebusiness by founding the Solomon Commercial Company.
