This pair of AR9s are among the finest you will ever see! Re-capped.....extra drivers.....
They are in terrific condition.Visually, I would say they rate a 9/10.The walnut veneer looks great and is nearly blemish-free. Even the backs of the speakers are well preserved.The grill cloth is also excellent, with only a few imperfections that are hard to see unless you\'re looking for them.
All 10 drivers are perfect.No dents or creases on domes or dust caps.The woofers and lower mid-range drivers have been professionally re-foamed using the correct high compliance surrounds from Vintage AR.The voice-coils were centered using shims.Not only are the coils perfectly centered; but much attention was placed on getting the height of the coils perfect. In every driver, the center of the coil sits exactly in the center of the magnetic gap. As a result, the height of the cone is exactly the same on each driver.
New gaskets were used when remounting the drivers.The cabinets are 100% air-tight and sealed.
Every capacitor has been replaced.I spent about $200 on caps from Parts Express.The tweeter and mid-range circuits have Dayton film caps in them. The woofers have NPE caps.After much research, the Dayton film caps proved to be the most cost effective. They provide quality sound for a reasonable price.I saved the original large computer grade capacitors (Callins) that were originally installed from the factory.They are still good. Some people prefer the original caps in the woofer circuit so they are included.
I thought I was going to keep these speakers forever, so I purchased spare \'back-up\' drivers in case something blew up. That never happened.There is 1 tweeter, 1 dome mid-range and 1 woofer.They are in perfect condition and also included with the speakers.
Sonically, these AR9s are superb.The bass these produce literally shake my house.The re-cap really made the sound clear and well defined.The sound is well balanced and tight, from top to bottom.I used a McIntosh MC2300 amp (300 watts RMS) to drive them and the sound was exceptional.

I have a copy of the owner\'s manual and some original documentation that originally came with the speakers.
I am asking a premium price for these speakers.But with their beautiful condition, new capacitors, and extra drivers; I believe this is an excellent value.
Everyone who has seen and heard these speakers have said they are fantastic.If you want AR9s, these are the ones!
