Arms and Armor “Musketeer” Rapier:
$710.00

This rapier was purchase 14 yeas ago from the well known forge in Minneapolis, Arms & Armor. They still produce this rapier and it currently sells for $1290. I have this “used” piece for about half that. When I say used, I mean it has been hanging on my wall for 14 years, not used in any stage or real combat. Well times change and so does the decor in the living room so it’s time to say goodbye. The rapier could use some cleaning and has a couple places of surface rust, easy to clean up. The forge had blade options on how sharp it would be. I elected to have it have a dulled edge. I did once wear it to the Minnesota renaissance festival so I purchased a custom scabbard for it so that goes with it. It is leather and was made from one of the vendors there at the festival. The description from the forge about the piece is as follows.
A combination of spectacular style and deadly utility make this rapier a bold addition to any gentleman\'s costume. The sturdiness would serve a musketeer for many years, while the ornate piercing in the fore ring and backguard would impress the most fashion conscious individual in society. The faceted mushroom-shaped pommel balances this rapier well back for excellent point control and creates an impressive heft to the piece. Blackened, the sword is finished to a velvety sheen and mounted with a wire-wrapped grip of blackened steel.
Original: Circa 1590, Saxon. Kienbusch Collection, Philadelphia Museum of Art
