This beautiful Atwater Kent, Model 20 Big Box Battery Radio is from 1924and it is the oldest of the breadbox radios and it has the distinction of being the only Atwater Kent radio of it\'s size, thus named the \"Big Box Radio\". It has been completely restored to as orgional as possible condition and it is truely a beautiful radio. It has original Atwater Kent parts including both of the audio transformers and no after market parts. The three meg resistor is original, but there is a 1/2 watt, 3 meg under where it doesn\'t show. I am not sure that I have ever found a good original 3 meg resistor, they all open with age. The cabinet is made of solid mahogheny wood and not veneers as used in other brands of radios. This radio comes with 5 good and tested 01a tubes and is a working radio. All that you need to operate it are a power supply, (battery eliminator) and a speaker of that era. Then simply connect a good ground source and a piece of wire for a antenna and sit back and enjoy a piece of history. These Atwater Kent radios were the top of the line radios of their time and are probably the most sought after by collectors. They age very well and restore back to beautiful condition. If you are looking for a nice A/K Model 20 Big Box radio for your collection, this may be the one for you. The components are origional and in very good condition the only flaw is the ones noted, (lines on the three tube island only on surface). When offerding remember that the tubes alone in this radio are valued at around $75-$100. If you have a collection the Big Box Model 20 is a must. The dimensions are 29\" long, 8.5\" high, and 7.5\" deep. The next radio was the A/K Model 20c (compact) and it measures 19.5\" long, 6\" high and 6\" deep.
