Weaver: Ulita Cosen isa San Carlos Apache Tribal member and resides on the Reservation.

Herweaving is single stitch with fine weaving. She gathers willow and cottonwoodbranch from San Carlos wash area.

Material:The Apache burden basket is made of river willow, cottonwood, tin andbuckskin. The river willow and cottonwood sticks are cut from fields andmountains around San Carlos Reservation. Each stick is hand trimmed. Tin plateis bought from a store and cut and shaped into cone. Sometimes people recyclethe tin can. The buckskin sheet is also bought from store and cut into piecesto dress the basket.
