Beautiful Hand Painted Satinwood Breakfront Bookcase with Butler\'s Secretary Description
Offered here, is a large and beautiful hand painted Satinwood, two part bow front breakfront, with fully fitted desk interior. We believe it is most likely English made.
An imposing piece, the top has 4 doors total, double door center, and one single on each end opening in opposite directions. The side panels are parallel to the back (wall), while the center section is bows out about 4\" - 5\". Each section has a fully functioning lock. There are 3 adjustable shelves inside each section, held up by metal plugs, which can be moved up or down.The corners of each door are decorated with lovely Adams Style painted wreaths and leaf branches.
The top can fit any or all of your china sets, or any great collection of quality smalls. Great lines and proportion to the top and bottom of this breakfront. Nice combo of storage and utility. There are 4 doors on the bottom, double center and two sides, matching the top in shape and symmetry, each with one shelf inside. Above features a fully fitted drop down leather top desk, with 3 mail/document compartments in the middle flanked with two drawers on each side. The leather is green, with beautifully silver tooled edges. To get the desk functional, one would pull the drawer out, then press the large brass button (one on each end of the drawer) and the \"drop front\" would unlock, come down and be ready for use. With a quality interior, the desk is a perfect height. All doors on the bottom, as well as the \"desk\" part have fully functional locks, and all share one key. All of the doors and drawers have beautiful paintings, executed with class and style.
Really a show stopper, I believe it to have been made around World War 2, maybe a few years later, but no later than the 1950\'s. The size is impressive, but sleek; 82\" wide, 86\" tall and 23\" deep. The condition is good, with a little expected age wear.
