The surround not only affects the bass parameters of a speaker it also absorbs and reflects various cone vibrations throughout the frequency spectrum. Further, the surround often determines the response of a speaker to peak signals. Serious speaker designers put much effort and science into the specifics of each particular surround. The type of material, treatment, thickness profile, curvature, angle of attachment and the exact method of attachment all come into play. There are as many variations of surrounds as there are speaker brands and generally they are not interchangeable. That\'s why at Audiodog\'s you will only get parts that meet the specifications for your speaker and not something that merely fits. This sale is for 2 American made Boston Acoustic 10\" filleted foam surrounds. These foams are the correct density weight and profile design so that your Boston Acoustic speaker will function as the manufacturer intended. Not all speaker foams are equal and getting the size right is only half the battle. Boston Acoustic speaker foam surrounds are filleted straight angle attach with no defined inner lip. If your replacement surround does not have the role that gently slopes to the inside edge (see photo detail) then Simply Speaking you don\'t have a Boston Acoustic surround. NOTE: The HD10 and other 10\" Boston Speaker frames with the recessed outer edge require the surround to be trimmed so the outer edge will lie flat.
