Buescher True Tone LP-12 Vintage 1927 A/Bb With Original Case :
$699.00

Please find an extremely rare vintage 1927 excellent condition gold plated Buescher True Tone LP-12 A/Bb trumpet. The instrument comes with original case and original Truetone #30-7 mouthpiece. The horn is a medium large bore (.460\" measured on the 2nd valve slide) with a 4.5\" diameter bell. The rotary A to Bb fast change tuner is in pristeen condition and turns effortlessly. The bell etching goes all the way to the bell flair/mouthpiece receiver brace. Valve serial numbers match valve casing serial numbers. The horn also has the original quick change mouthpiece receiver adapter to convert to a small shank cornet receiver. The gold plated finish appears to be about 95% good and is not flaking. Plating loss around valve casing probably due to hand wear. The plating under the gold plating is silver. I am told by some veteran instrument repairmen that it was typical to gold plate over silver to yield a very bright gold sheen. All dents recently removed there are a few shallow nicks on the bell tail only. The instrument has been chem cleaned, all new valve felts, new water key corks, case has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized no odors. Valve compression test yields a good pop on all valve slides when pulled/pushed in. The case is heavy duty with edge trim that will last forever and has protected the horn beautifully for 86 years. It has been sanitized no odors to worry about. One of the side latches does not work. The middle latch works fine. The handle is relatively newer than the case and is heavy duty. My opinion as far as sound of this instrument is that it plays well in tune in all registers. I checked it with a Korg digital tuner with calibration at 440. Bb concert pitch plays in tune in open position and with valves 2 and 3 depressed. \'A\' concert pitch plays in tune with 2nd valve depressed as well as 1 and 3 depressed. Usually an adequate way of testing for tuning a Bb trumpet. Overall again only my opinion is that it is probably suited well for jazz. Notes bend well, shakes and lip trills seem as easy on this horn as any I have played. For a vintage horn of this era it has a contemporary flavor, again only my opinion. Feel free to ask questions.
