Offered is an original painting by the famed Louisiana primitive painter, Clementine Hunter. It was painted in the early 1970\'s. It is titled \"The Nativity\". The medium is acrylic on canvas board. The size is 24\" by 16\" and is framed with an understated black frame. Photos show that it has the correct signature which appears in the photo above the wise men. The condition is excellent with only a small area of discoloration on the background.Clementine, in explaining the composition of the painting, always said that the Baby Jesus is on Mary\'s lap as they sit outside of the manger. They are seated under a banana tree. The Wise Men are bringing gifts. She explained that the first is bringing a cake under cellophane, the second is carrying a box of chocolates and the third has a pineapple, which was a special treat for Christmas. The owner of the painting was 15 years old in 1970. She went with her mother to visit Clementine Hunter at Melrose Plantation where she worked and lived. She remembers that Clementine showed several paintings hidden under her bed. This is one of the paintings purchased at one of the frequent visits to Clementine\'s small framed house. The owner used to live in Clouttierville which is not far from Melrose and Little Eva Plantations. They owned a number of Clementines paintings all purchased directly from Clementine Hunter.
