My Personal 30L-1: Just in time for the contest season is my personal COLLINS 30L-1 LINEAR HF Amplifier. We are downsizing and the XYL says there will be now room in our retirement home for my Collins S-Line, so the whole system must go! Look for the rest of the Collins S-Line in my other listings which includes my original purchased (one-owner & original box) 75S-3B receiver.
Condition: The 30L-1 is in excellent physical condition as you can see in the photos and operates per specifications. There are some minor scratches on the amp as shown in the photos. The front face is perfect except for a small chip on the case ring in the upper left corner that is hard to see. You’ll have to zoom in to see it in the photos. Amp has been kept in an environmentally controlled and smoke free environment.
General Specifications: The 30L-1 Linear Amplifier is rated at 1000 watts PEP power input on SSB and 1000 watts average on CW on all bands when driven by an exciter with 70 watts of power. I measured about 700 watts CW output into a 50 ohm dummy load on 80 thru 15 meters and about 605 watts on 10 meters. The videos below show power output on each band:

Power Supply: This amplifier has had the power supply section replaced with the WN4I, Steve Pautard Heavy Duty Power Supply Board which combines diodes and filter caps and is a quality replacement for the stock circuit. With this supply, the 30L-1 coasts along at 2000 volts and when keyed allows maximum output.
Soft Keying: The Harbach Electronics SS-201 SOFT KEYING circuit has been installed which allows a modern day transceiver to key this amplifier without any internal negative voltage damage to the exciter. In the video, a Kenwood TS-130 keys the amplifier. The SS-201 installation instructions are also included.
AC Power: The amplifier is wired for 110 VAC but can also be wired for 220 VAC per the included Service Bulletin No. 1.
Tubes: Four new Svetlana 811A tubes are included and will be packaged and shipped separately to prevent damage to them.
Extras: In addition to the Original Collins 30L-1 Instruction Book, an SO-239 to N connector is provided. Also a custom dust cover made of grey felt and created by Radiocoversdot Com is included. Copies of Collins Service Bulletins No. 1, 2, and 3 are included.
Special Shipping Note: The tubes will be shipped separately from theamplifiervia USPS to ensure they reach you safely! Because of this, an extra amount is included in the shipping fees. The amp and tubes will be very well packed to prevent damage. The shipping weight without packing comes to 38 lbs and about 42 lbs packaged. When you receive this great built in the USA amplifier please remove the bubble wrap and packing in the RF cage compartment before re-installing the four 811A\'s.
