Craftsman tractor model 917.254661. It has a 12hp heavy duty cast iron sleeve engine and 38\" deck. Nice all steel hood. It has been given a quick going through. I just got missing head light cover installednot pictured.Engine had the valves ground and clearances fixed, head was cleaned, new head gasket, valve cover gasket, carb was gone through / clean / adjusted, deck was cleaned, blades checked, compression tested at 100 psi (good), tires all checked to hold air, deck belt checked, throttle and choke adjusted, wheels painted to match, started to paint deck and machine was tested.. New higher amp battery was installed. It was also tested by mowing for about 10 minutes then later a 1/4 of an acre.Minor issues after first starting smoked for about 30 seconds while on choke then goes away, blades should be replaced ($14 at Sears 532121687), right hub is working for but shaft has some play ($35 917254661) both easy to replace. I currently fitted a new blade on the left side.

Comes with extra nice deck ($200-$300 value). I just spent time to clean, paint the bottom and sharpen blades (last picture) So you get a nicer deck as a spare.

I am currently fixing up the spare deck and hopefully have it installed soon. Currently bottom was cleaned well and painted. Need to fix one minor issue and paint the top hopefully once it stops raining. Looking really nice so far.Parts are easy to get for the machine and the Briggs and Stratton engine.
