This counter kit works with R4-A B and C Now with genuine Quartz crystal time base, in HC-49case 20.000000 MHZ. This Crystal must be mounted Horizontal !!! ....The time base can be adjusted ( Calibrated ) with the ceramic slot variable capacitor in the kit ....This is an un-assembled kit, you must insert components and solder.ALL components included.,This is not a bag of parts and P.C. boards, I have divided the \"Kit\" into 4 seperate sealed bags.
This counter will not load the output of the INJ. port ( RCA connector on back), If you have the Drake transmitter connected to this port you will need a Y RCA adapter, I will include this Adapter.
You can get the 12 VAC And ground from the octal plug if you want, I drilled a 1/4\" hole right below the chassis grounding stud and cleaned the hole then pushed in the plastic grommet ( included ) now push the red and black wire pair, connect the red to the 12 VAC at the 12BA6 fill. supply and found a handy ground point close for the black wire, then wired it to the male plug ( provided ) and plugged it into the counter, since the counter only draws less than 50 MA there was no load on the 12.6 filament line.

This counter works with the Drake series R4-XX, .. make sure your Drake has a 5645 I.F this counter has a 5645 offset in the 16F628A EEPROM. The offset may be changed to anything up to 60 Mhz. It\'s very easy to change the offset, there are 3 pages of Drake specific install and offset change, there are additional pages of construction details
This is not a beta test , I have sold hundreds of similar items and sent them out, with no complaints, this is a Kit, all components are Hole through, most resistors have pre bent leads, ( no surface mount, Yuk), the part values are on the board (silk layer) easy to read, all Integrated circuits ( 2) are socket mounted, the calibration is adjustable, with a slotted screw ceramic trimmer.
You can enter an offset 0 to 60 mhz, added or subtracted to the freq. being measured, the programming instructions are included, no rewire nesesary, a simple on board switch is used to sequence through the programming steps.
Available in blue only ( have some Red also )

If you dont have a temperature regulated soldering pencil with a fine point tip, then forget it, there are some tight soldering points, these are single sided P.C. boards (3) they have no solder mask, not tinned, the holes for componants are drilled , bare primitive copper, make sure your solder pencil will make it up to 750 or 850 ( best ) degrees, this is not a flow solder Item, so the heat must be up !! You must shine up before soldering, and if possible don\'t touch the copper, then, after you have the counter working, spray the circuit side with clear spray, I recommend Krylon clear spray. cover the pins on the display board before spraying.
The digits on the read out are .56\" high, quite bright, Looks good.
It has two inputs, an RCA jack, for counter input, this go\'s to the INJ RCA female on the back of your Drake using the two plug patch cord ( provided ) and a 4 pin dedicated Aux. input with all power and R.F. input connections, and a power jack for 8 to 14 volts AC from Drake Fillament supply, or, wall wart.
If you have an R.F signal generator, then you can put in your own Offset into the EEPROM and it has built in 455 kc or 10.7 mc. selectable Via tactile switch, all Info is included now.
