This is a very good looking, antique, 3-door ice box with porcelain in the interior where the food wasstored. It is painted metal where theice was stored. It has beenrefinished. The original nickel platingon the hinges, door latches and screws was removed by reverse plating. The nowbrass hinges and latches were coated at the time the nickel plating was removedand they have not tarnished since it was done, about 1966.
It weighs about 155 pounds. It is 43\" high, 32\" wide and 19\" deep, front to back.
The interior is clean, not rustedand solid. The oak exterior is smoothand shows very little wear or staining for its age. The wooden roller wheels are broken but areavailable from a variety of sources.
The back is tongue and groove pinein a horizontal pattern. There is part ofa cardboard label stapled to the back but only sections are legible. There are also numbers and letters stenciled on the back.
The ice box was acquired by thecurrent owners in the Finger Lakes Region of New York in the mid-1960s.
