The main scroll it reads \"1826 Commemorating 145 years of I*X*L Companion of the American Frontier 1971, Mark assigned October 1827. The other side has some nice etching but no writing. Some dark spots, and surface scratches. I think this was made in 1971 as the date said, but Ifeel it to be a lot older because of the high quality of the knife.Maybe it wasnew Etching onan old blade?Great file work on the back spine of the knife.
