Hans Wegner the designer of this chair called it \"The Peacock\". Wegner was one of the founders of the Danish Modern era. He had this chair first displayed to be handmade to order in a small museum furniture shop owned by the master wood worker Johannas Hansen in Copenhagen, Denmark. The chair became very popular and a bigger location was needed to keep up production orders. Since then Hans Wegner chairs have moved to several bigger locations and are made by other manufactures, but they are still hand made in Denmark. This chair is a piece of mid century history. You can not go into an IKEA or fine furniture store and not note the influences of Wegner and his elk. Its classic look is timeless. The chair for sale was bought from a lady in her 60s who says her art collector father had it shipped back from Denmark many years ago. It has been keep indoors and has been well cared for. However, at one time a mover cracked the back right leg. It was not broken completely so he put glue into the crack. Recently, it has been repaired by wood worker experienced in restoring antiques Robert Wymer of Austin Woodwright.The repair is excellent. The leg is strong again and the break line blends into the grains of wood. Once more the crack is not visible unless you look under the chair and if you can find it. One of the photos I point it out.The chair was also recently professionally cleaned and that\'s all it\'s needed. It has some slight wearing from age but no cuts, unfixed breaks and the paper cord seat is in perfect condition. This chair is very lightly used and is a beauty. We are proud to sell.
