A beautiful four piece vintage or most likely antique silver plated half reeded tea and coffee set estimated to have been made sometime during the first or second decade of the last century. The two main pots sport ebonised handles and rectangular knops. The sucrier also has an ebonised knop to its detachable lid. The long spout to the coffee pot affords alternative use as a hot chocolate pot.

In very good gleaming condition. The silver cover is intact apart from one small light smear of wear to the coffee shoulder just before the handle. The sugar and creamer have the odd small spot but as they are finished with a creamy white coating the wear is minimal within. We have sold a couple of quality tea sets with this finish, it feels slightly rough to the touch and has the appearance of a thin layer of stable kaolin, however we are not sure but it does seem to do the business. There are no structural faults.

Displays well.

• Maker’s marks: surprisingly unattributed, we assume that this was an everyday copy for the silver one, safely kept under wraps for special occasions, in the butler’s pantry.
