\"OPERATIONAL\" Hammarlund HX-50 HF transmitter in very good cosmetic and electronic condition. I have worked many stations both stateside and DX with very good audio reports as well as signal strength reports commensurate with the 60 watts output. 50-70 watts out on 80-15 meters and slightly less on 10A meters decreasing to around 30 watts on 10C meters. I have made a few modifications without any alteration to the front panel or cabinet. Major mods include PTT from the STBY position and the addition of an OA2 voltage regulator on the screen of the final which improves the CW note somewhat. The mic jack is presently a 1/4\" key jack (same as used on a Vibroplex key). It can easily be changed to any plug accommodating and additional PTT line. I will include a list of factory recommended mods that either previous owners or I have installed. These mods are not outwardly noticeable but were installed nonetheless. The only EXCEPTION to the rig being 100% operational is the transmitter does not operate properly in the VOX position, and I do not have the skills to fix it. It is not a factor for those using PTT. Perhaps the new owner will be able to bring this function into full operation.
The pictures show the output into a 50 ohm dummy load starting with 80 meters and ending with 10C. It is rare that a rig of this age is able to produce nearly full power right up through the first 10 meter band segment.Please note: This is not a brand new transmitter and although it is operational, the new owner will no doubt find area where improvements could be made. It is, however, fully usable in SSB and CW (I do not use AM but I have no reason to doubt that it will work just fine in AM). I have had many hours of successful operation primarily on 20 meters and would expect the new owner to experience the same. And finally, I am selling this to make room for a KWM-2 I recently acquired. Otherwise, it would remain an operational part of my classic station. I ship all my \"boat anchor\" radios via FEDEX Ground. $60 covers anywhere in the lower 48 (if more I will pick up the difference).
