Heathkit Heath VF-1 VFO: Checked and working Good shape:
$75.00

Hi Folks!
Up for your consideration today is a classic tested and working Heathkit model VF-1 VFO!This is Heathkit’s equivalent to the Johnson Model 122 VFO. It is wired to plug directly into the AT-1 transmitter, and can be rewired to function with other transmitters. It covers 160-10 Meters in three switch settings: 160/80/40M, 40/20/15/10M, and 11M (yes, prior to 1960, 11M was a Ham allocation!) If externally powered (such as when I set it up for test), it requires 250-350 volts DC at about 10-20 mA, and 6.3 volts AC or DC at about 300 mA (I ran it at approximately 300 volts for my testing, and with 6.3 VAC for filament). The VFO has two tubes: An 0A2 voltage regulator, and a 6AU6 oscillator. I tested the 0A2 in circuit, and it is regulating at 152.0 volts (plain English: Good, well within its range.),and I tested the 6AU6 on my TV-7 military transconductance type tube tester, and it registered a 92 with a 58 being minimum (passed the shorts test with flying colors also!) The unit was definitely kit built, but the wiring job is passable (whoever put it together needed a hotter iron!). The case and knobs are fairly clean, with the band switch knob having a crack near the set screw. The dial has some very small stress fractures at two of the mounting screws. The unit has good output on all three positions, and with my frequency counter loading the output, I get about 25 Volts peak to peak on Band 1, 3 V p-p on band 2, and 4 V p-p on band 3. All three bands are fairly close calibration wise. It has an RCA connector on the pigtail for RF output.
****THIS IS THE LAST ONE THAT I HAVE****
I do not expect to get any more in anytime soon, so if you want a good, working VFO, this is your last chance to buy one from me. To recap, because the unit is over 60 years old and is not a total rebuild, the unit is sold “as is”, no returns. It will NOT be DOA, but no warranty further than this. I have honestly described the VFO. Check my response, and offer with NOTE: If you see a higher than expected shipping price, go to the right of where you see the shipping price. Click on “see details”, which lists all of the options! For some reason, the more expensive options tend to be listed Local pickup on the item is available, Shipping is through USPS, UPS, or Fed Ex, your preference. Packed weight will be between 5 and 6 pounds. Any test equipment, body parts, props, pets, parts, children, gold bars, etc. in the background are strictly incidental and not part of the sale! We take PayPal, and are happy to take cash for local pickups. I am usually able to ship within 24 hours of payment. On rare occasions, it may take me a little longer to get the item out due to work and other responsibilities. Please feel free to ask questions, I’ll answer them as best as I can. Check my response, and offer with confidence! 30+ years professional electronic technician/engineer, Master Certified Electronic Technician.
