Model:Leather Luggage Case for SxS Rifle or Shotgun. Apparently this case was made for a .50 Caliber +/- rifle but came to us housing a .470 Nitro Express SxS rifle. The cartridge compartment has a diameter of .6\" (but the compartment is too shallow for a 28 Ga.). .470 NE fits a little loose. Both the canvas cover and the top of the leather lid are nicely named \"J. McKeand\".
Gun Model: SxS Rifle or Shotgun. 26\" or less barrel. The depth of the cartridge compartment will prevent the use of shells, but it should still hold the gun well.
Caliber:Approx .50 Caliber rifle or smaller. (Cartridge compartment measures about .6\" in diameter).
Interior Dimensions: 28\" x 8 x 2 1/2\". The barrel compartment will fit a barrel no longer than 26\".,
Markings:The lid of the canvas cover and the case are marked \"J. McKeand\". The inside of the lid has the Holland & Holland 13 Bruton St. label on it.
Overall Condition:This case is used but in Fine-Excellent overall condition. The canvas cover has protected the case well, though the cover has suffered. There are stains, scuffs, tears and a broken strap on the cover. This said, the case itself is in exceptional condition. There is just a bit of scuffing to the leather and we would give it a 90% or better rating. The wood construction is solid and tight, with most of the varnish retained. The interior is reasonably clean, with the oil bottle, rag and removable spacers still retained inside. The handle is solid and still firmly attached. You will want to give this case a good cleaning, inside and out, and repair the center strap on the case cover, but it is otherwise very usable. Please use the pictures to get a better understanding of condition.
